Photo Planète Charmilles has been in the Planète Charmilles shopping centre since 2004, a step away from the rue de Lyon. People drop in for an ID photo between two errands, to print the pictures on their phone, to bind a file or to digitise an old tape. Everything is done on the spot, Monday to Saturday, until 7.30 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, with the centre’s car park right underneath.

The questions we are asked
Are the ID photos accepted for a Swiss passport?
Yes. They follow the Swiss standards for passports, identity cards and permits: 35 × 45 mm, plain background, face to the front, neutral expression. They are taken on the spot, without appointment, for adults and babies alike.
Do you take photos for foreign passports and visas?
Yes. We take photos to the biometric standards of most countries. The 35 × 45 mm format applies to Switzerland and almost all of Europe (Spain, Greece and Finland have their own formats) and to many countries in Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and Latin America; the United States and Canada require other dimensions. Head height and sometimes the background colour vary from one country to another: tell us the country and the document (passport, visa, residence card) and we adapt the framing.
Do you take ID photos of babies and newborns?
Yes, without appointment. We take the time needed for the baby to face the camera with open eyes on a plain background, as passports and identity cards require. The photos can also be sent to you by e-mail.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Come in during opening hours, Monday to Saturday. For a longer studio session, a call to 022 340 20 25 lets us agree on a time.
How do I print the photos on my phone?
Bring your phone or a USB stick. Standard prints are usually ready in about ten minutes: you can wait or come back later.
Which tapes and films can you transfer?
VHS tapes and camcorder tapes, to a digital file. For another format, call us with the tape in hand and we will tell you what is possible.
What does the Copy Service do?
File copies, binding, laminating, document scanning and CV layout, at the Copy Service counter right next to the photo counter.
How do I get there by public transport?
With the TPG: Charmilles stop or Guye stop (buses 6, 10, 11, 19, A1, A6), both close to the Planète Charmilles centre, Promenade de l’Europe 11. By car, the centre’s car park has 430 spaces, with 3 hours free on Saturdays.
Where is the shop and where can I park?
Inside the Planète Charmilles shopping centre, Promenade de l’Europe 11, 1203 Geneva, on the rue de Lyon side. The centre’s car park has 430 spaces, with 3 hours free on Saturdays.
Do you know an IT specialist who could help me?
Yes. Our IT partner, Kero Digital Solutions in Vernier, troubleshoots PCs and Macs, Wi-Fi and printers, looks after e-mail, Microsoft 365 and backups, builds showcase websites for freelancers and SMEs, and helps seniors patiently, in plain words. Ask us at the counter or contact them directly.
